ABOUT MYSELF
My name is Katrin. I am a soap maker with a small workshop in Montezuma, Costa Rica. THis place fascinates me as much as the ocean, the tropics, and all the magic of nature that comes with it. It has been a great source of inspiration for my soaps.
Some years ago, my sister gave me a handmade soap bar as a gift. It looked really nice, smelled unbelievably good, and its lather felt amazing on my skin. This is where my soap-making journey began.
I spent many hours studying soap-making, oil properties and the chemistry behind it. Only then did I realize the abundance of toxic chemicals that are in commercial soaps and shower gels. My very first batch of soap was a success, as were the attempts following. With every single batch, I tried something new, experimented with new colorants, exfoliants, essential oils, fresh fruit and much more.
Nature provides this endless variety of ingredients to work with and so far, my excitement has only grown. The balance between the creativity of creating new recipes and the scientific accuracy necessary to produce them is something I really enjoy. I also enjoy the procedure of cutting the soap bars and seeing how each one turns out differently and unique.
I love the happiness I feel when people tell me how much they love my soaps- something that I created with my own hands from natural ingredients.
